Design of Tattoo Machine

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to create a new design of a tattoo machine that would differentiate it from competing products on the market. At the same time, the shape should be interesting, practical and visually attractive to the user and his customers. Since it is a hand tool, a very important point is the solution of ergonomics suitable for long-term work in one position. The target group is professional taters. The final solution is a new product, including the solution of its inner parts. The solution of shape design is comfortable for the user and for long-term work and is unique among competing products on the market. The new mechanism makes machine lighter, moves the center of gravity to a more appropriate position, allows better adjustment of the tattoo parameters and the shape of the mechanism.
The Evolution of Tattoo Art

This thesis deals with tattoo history, mainly within the Western civilisation. Further, it depicts situation in communist Czechoslovakia, where tattooing as a profession was officially non-existent. The transition of modern society's attitude towards tattooed people, which has changed a lot through time, is being analysed here. It was enabled by mass media and social media, which is clarified in this thesis, as well. Different aspects of tattoo artist's job and environment of tattoo parlours in last hundred years are approached. Thesis analyses the most essential tattoo styles of modern times and an attitude towards the process of choosing the very motif. Last but not least it presents hand poke, or a way of tattooing by hand only - without tattoo machine. It focuses on problematic placements of tattoo motifs on human skin and the way in which they influence work life and private life of their owner. Motivation of an individual to get a tattoo and meanings of the tattoo, if there are any, are also depicted. Nowadays issue of self-tattooing, its reasons and negative consequences linked to such behaviour are interpreted here as well.
Tattoo and its meaning in religion

Tattoo is kind of body art that is well known practice from beginning of human history to present time. Tattooing is process of inserting of colour in the skin. The oldest archaeological evidence of tattooing we can find in mummy body called Ötzi which is almost 5,500 years old, according to radiocarbon dating. The hot spots of tattooing with very long history and lore are Polynesian islands. This thesis is focused on tattoo, its history and ethnography and another aspects and purposes connected with practising of tattooing. And finally is trying to find relationship between tattoo and religion. The first part of the aim is bringing tattoo definition, namely concentrate on its ethnography and distribution. The second one is brief describing main religion and belief systems such as Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism and their issue with tattooing.

Meaning of Tattoo in hardcore subculture

This work deals with the phenomenon of tattoo in hardcore subculture. In the theoretical part it reflects the transformation of the concept of subcultures in his historical progress, with an emphasis on the concept of style in the connection of the Center of contemporary culture Studies and post subcultural theory, especially the writing of David Muggleton. The diachronic perspective, this work also deals with the phenomenon of tattoo and its functions and meanings to it in today's society ascribed. An integral part of the theoretical part is to describe hardcore only in terms of its progress in the USA and in Czechoslovakia or Czech Republic, but also in terms of the side of music and shared ideology, which is the main key featuring to this subculture. Concepts described in the theoretical part are then used in actual research, which is conducted by using qualitative methodology. Exploration aims to describe the meanings and functions of the hardcore subculture and determine whether they are content and motivation ascribed to tattoo influenced subcultural ideologies, or whether it is primarily an expression of the contemporary individualistic discourse.
